IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU!

After four or more years of intense study, an average expenditure of $100,000, and a hard-earned degree, YOU are ready to enter the world of the employed.

But…Do you have the job-seeking expertise that will give you “The Edge” to get your foot in the door?  Do you have the connections to get your resume on the desk of leading corporations you desire to work for?

That’s where College to Career Guidance Seminars can help!

Our seminar, “How to Get the Job YOU Want!” will give you the "soft skills" you need.

WE TEACH YOU:

  • How to set realistic goals and expectations for yourself
What is a real starting salary, and are you worth it? Are you willing to start at the bottom of the ladder?
  • When to apply for the job
You can fill out a hundred applications. But how do you narrow the field to find the jobs that best fit your career objectives and your future employer’s needs?
  • What your prospective employers are looking for today
Companies today are as concerned with your ability to “fit” their cultural environment as they are with your specific skills.
  • How to research and prepare before the interview
This is “your” life we are talking about! Take time to research the company’s management, history, culture, customer profile, and mission.
  • What to wear, what to say, and when to say it
The way you dress, look, speak, and handle yourself are as important as what you know.
  • How to make the “right” impression...The first time
Think of your job interview as preparing for a final exam... It’s for all the marbles, so your written and oral presentations must be flawless.
  • How to stay confident and focused, even when things go wrong
Searching for just any job is tough... landing the “right” job will take everything you’ve got! We’ll teach you about rejection, and how to get up in the morning.
  • How to “Ask for the job”
The only way prospective employers will know anything about you is if YOU  tell them, and asking for the job shows your desire, sincerity, and enthusiasm.
  • When and how to follow-up
Saying “thank you” to the people who took the time to meet with you is the right  thing to do.

WE GIVE YOU ACCESS TO THE "CAP":

The Career Application Program

1.  This program opens a direct link from your university career center to the desks of our sponsoring recruiters.
2.  Provides you access to qualifying documents that allow you to apply to the sponsoring companies you want to work for.
3.  Puts your cover letter, resume, and answers to the company specific criteria form in the hands of hiring organizations in your field.

NOTE:  Students may ONLY use the Career Application Program (CAP) by attending a College to Career Seminar.  More information is available under the CAP tab.
